Buy Rubista apricot plant online
The Rubista apricot plant is a special cultivar that can stand out from other varieties for its ripening, which is very early. The tree that characterizes the Rubista apricot is of medium vigor, able to differentiate itself for its standard-rising habit. It is a self-fertile plant, capable of producing very well on both darts and mixed branches, and for this reason, it is one of the most widespread varieties. Its maturation is quite early. In general, it is distinguished by its (intermediate) flowering and its high productivity, as well as its very early fruiting. Given its characteristics, it adapts to any production area.
The fruit obtained from the Rubista apricot plant is a fruit of good size: in fact, the size of the fruits is very large (size 2A), when compared to other varieties. The resulting apricot is characterized by a typical elliptical shape and a bright red background color, visible on the entire surface of the fruit. The pulp that characterizes the Rubista apricot is also orange in color and at the same time is very juicy, with a good flavor and above all, characterized by a particular sweet and aromatic flavor.

It rightfully belongs to the category of “forgotten fruits.” Cultivated since the time of Ancient Greece, widespread in vegetable gardens and orchards until the early 1900s, now its cultivation is very limited. The scientific name Cydonia derives from Cidonia city on the island of Crete from which quinces known as “cydonee apples” came in Roman times. A very hardy, rustic plant, it prefers soils with little lime. In the past the fruits were used to perfume linens in drawers as an alternative to lavender, important, since Roman times, the phytotherapeutic use, which remained in folk medicine for a long time.
